Bahia is known for its cultural richness, paradisiacal landscapes, and its large historical heritage. However, the main destinations are the beautiful islands and beaches that take anyone’s breath away. One of the highlights is Boipeba Island, considered one of the most beautiful in Brazil.

With calm and isolated beaches, Boipeba Island, although not a very well-known destination, has started to draw attention for its paradisiacal landscapes and for being a perfect place for those who want to forget the stress and chaos of routine. The archipelago, besides being considered one of the most enchanting places in Bahia, is located between the Rio do Inferno, Tinharé Island, and the municipality of Cairu.

How to Get to the Island
To reach the island and enjoy its various attractions, the most common way is to take a ferry from Salvador to Bom Despacho or Itaparica, followed by a bus or van to Valença, and finally a speedboat from Valença to Boipeba. There is also a faster way to get to the island, which is taking an air taxi from Salvador to a point near Boipeba.

In addition to enjoying several beaches that allow close contact with nature, such as Cueira, Tassimirim, Bainema, and Moreré, the island offers other types of tours, including private boat trips that take visitors to various beaches and natural pools, such as those of Bainema, Castelhanis, among others.


There is also an incredible immersion and contact with nature through kayaking visits to the white mangroves and observing the bioluminescence phenomenon of plankton; and for animal lovers, it is possible to take a boat trip to see humpback whales.

Competing with the charm of the place, the inns of Boipeba are not lacking in comfort, beauty, and a wide variety of styles. Ranging from rustic inns, such as Eco-Pousada Casa Bobô, to more sophisticated ones, such as Pousada Coco Bambu Moreré.

From December to March: the best moment for those who want to enjoy high season, sunny days, and calm seas.
From September to November: great for those who like pleasant weather with little rain, fewer tourists, a more affordable prices in inns and hotels.
From July to November: for those who love humpback whale watching, this is the best time to take tours and see them.

The villages of Boipeba offer diverse and rich culture, with fascinating 17th-century architecture, preservation of religiosity, gastronomy, and ancestral practices that remain a unique characteristic and ensure the beauty of the place.


Being surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, it has a wide variety of fish and bird species, as well as rich terrestrial fauna that includes foxes, armadillos, otters, and monkeys.
